When Another Home Gets Hit – Santa Fe High School Shooting

It happened again. The 22nd school shooting in our country this year. This one the most deadly since MSD. Trump sends his support. Though a kind gesture, “support” will not prevent another shooting from happening.

This has become our normal. We are accustomed to headlines of “At Least Eight Dead in School Shooting.” We need to get mad again. This is not okay and this is not normal. More lives lost. More teenagers injured. More families broken. More friendships destroyed. More communities shattered.

These disgusting acts of terror need to be stopped. We made our voices heard with the March for Our Lives movement but if you thought that was over after the march, you were wrong. Every day needs to be another way to implement change. Keep writing to your government representatives. Keep talking to your community. Keep telling the world that this is not normal and this is not okay.

There is no excuse for something like this to happen. Do not humanize the shooters, like some have tried to do in the past. Gun violence is far too common in our day and for some reason, people have forgotten. It’s not on the headlines anymore so it’s not in the front of people’s minds. A daily reminder that people die from guns every day is necessary, until change really happens.

My heart goes out to those affected by the Santa Fe High School shooting. There’s a rough road ahead but you’re not alone. Stay strong and stay loud. I still believe we will be the change.
